An improvised musical performance "Caravan Static" stages the equivalences of instrument builder Sarah Kenchington's relationship to materials in both her domestic living situation and artistic practice.
I have been archiving the small incidental sounds that Sarah's band of instruments contribute whilst she plays, and improvise live with Sarah by playing back my recordings through a resonating glass screen and exploring its resonant response.
Video footage from visits to Sarah and her partner Belinda Gilbert-Scott, made by myself and Hans Diernberger, makes up an important element of the performance. A part of the unique site in which Sarah lives and works is brought into play on stage.
Below is an audio excerpt of a concert in Glasgow, June 2017.
